Three-time World Half Marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor is targeting good performance on his debut at the 126th edition of Boston men’s marathon which is scheduled to take place on April 18.

Kaptagat-based Kamworor said he is preparing well for the race.

“I am carrying on with my training and I am focusing on giving my best in Boston,” said the two time New York City marathon champion.

Kamworor could not compete at Agnes Tirop Memorial World Cross Country Tour in Eldoret last month due to a groin injury, but he now says that he has recovered and ready to compete.

“Am in good shape and looking forward to compete,” added Kamworor who holds three titles in the world half marathon.

It will not be a walk in the park for Kamworor as he will face stiff competition from Milano marathon winner Titus Ekiru who had the fastest time last year of 2.02.57, Valencia marathon champion Evans Chebet, defending champion Benson Kipruto and New York marathon champion Albert Korir as they are also making a debut in Boston.

He will also face off with marathoners Geoffrey Kirui and Lawrence Cherono who won the Boston Marathon 2017 and 2019 editions respectively as well as Ethiopia’s three time Olympic champion Kenenisa Bekele among others.

Kamworor said that he is responding well to training and ready to compete.

Berlin marathon bronze medalist Kamworor is optimistic of good performance and a great run in the streets of Boston.

The 29-years old was a notch high on personal best of 2.05.23 when he finished fourth during the 2021 Valencia marathon.

However, Kamworor confirmed that he will not be competing at National Police Championships that will be taking place next month.

“My aim now is focusing on running Boston marathon so i will not be competing at the police championships,” Kamworor said
