Friends School Kamusinga (FSK) and Butere Girls’ High School won gold medals for Kenya in the 3×3 basketball games as the curtains came down on the 21st edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games held in Bukedea and Mbale districts in Uganda.

Friends School Kamusinga edged out Uganda’s Christian High School, Seroma, in the final to clinch the gold medal and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

Compatriots Butere Girls, also from Kenya’s Western region, narrowly defeated Ugandan side St. Noa 17-15 to bag a gold medal for Kenya.

Butere Girls’ Daisy Awino was crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Still in girls’ 3×3 basketball Kenya bagged bronze after St. Joseph’s Girls from Kitale in Trans Nzoia County defeated St. Mary’s Kitende during the play-offs for third position.

Similarly, in boys’ football, Kenya’s Musingu Boys, fondly known as the Scorpions, were knocked out in the semifinals by Uganda’s defending champions and 14-time East Africa school games football winners, St. Mary’s Kitende.

They settled for the bronze medal after losing 2-3 to Bukedea Comprehensive School at Amus College School stadium in the semifinals.

Compatriots Nyakach Girls, from Nyakach Sub-County in Kisumu County, popularly referred to by home fans as the Plateau Queens, lost in the third-place play-offs in post-match penalties, 7-8, to Amus College School in a scheduled 10-spot kick shootout.

During regular time of the girls’ third-place play-offs, Nyakach Girls rallied from behind to hold Amus College School 2-2 before the tie was decided through a penalty shootout, ending 7-8.
