Kakamega school lose appeal, Musingu to represent Kakamega County in regionals

Kakamega School appeal against Musingu High School has been dismissed, resulting in the latter being designated as the representative of Kakamega County in the forthcoming regional games.
The appeal was filed by Kakamega School, alleging that Musingu had fielded an ineligible player who was simultaneously a member of a Kisumu-based club and another school team.

The investigation into the matter revealed several shortcomings in Kakamega School’s appeal. The complaint did not specify the school being appealed against, lacked a date, and was not signed by the affiliate body, which is the sub-county association responsible for overseeing school sports.
Furthermore, the appeal did not provide sufficient identification of the player in question, as there were multiple individuals named Brian within the schools visited during the investigation.

Additionally, the respondents were not served with the appeal letter, hindering further action.
Consequently, the status quo remains, and Musingu School has been confirmed as Kakamega County’s representative in the upcoming regional games.
The decision comes after Musingu School secured their place in the final of the Kakamega County School games with a captivating penalty shootout victory over Kakamega School.

The match, held at Bukhungu Stadium, ended in a draw during regular time, leading to the dramatic shootout where Musingu emerged victorious with a 5-4 scoreline.
Kakamega School, a record national champion, had high hopes of overturning the result through the appeal process. However, with the dismissal of their appeal, they must accept Musingu School’s rightful place in the regional games.

Musingu School’s success in the county tournament has reignited their aspirations of achieving national prominence.
Their victory over defending champions Shanderema Secondary in the Kakamega County Schools soccer title match gave them renewed confidence as they aim to make their mark on the national stage.
On the other hand, Green Commandos, the former national champions, experienced a disappointing campaign, finishing in fourth place after losing the third-place playoff to Lugusi Secondary from Kabras by a score of 2-0.
