Kagame Cup: Kenya Police triumph over Ethiopia Coffee
By Luke Oluoch, September 8, 2025Reigning Football Kenya Premier League champion Kenya Police FC has claimed its second victory in the ongoing 2025 Kagame Cup championship.
Police achieved the feat following a late 2-0 victory over Ethiopian Coffee FC this Monday, September 8, 2025, in a clash staged in Major General Isamuhyo Stadium.
Goals from Alvin Mangeni and David Okoth sealed a huge, albeit late, win for the Etienne Ndayiragije-coached side, who were forced to wait until the dying moments of the game to make their mark.
The first half saw the two sides battle at close quarters, with police failing to make count of a slight edge in possession.
Super subs
Mangeni, a halftime substitute, broke the deadlock with five minutes to play for the priceless lead for the Kenyans.
The goal came moments after coach Ndajiragijye had made a couple of changes to spruce up the team’s offensive arsenals.
Okoth, another late substitute, insured the win with a late effort to seal Police’s second win in the tournament.

The law enforcers, who are using the tourney as a launchpad ahead of their historic CAF Champions League debut later this year, kicked off their campaign on a dream note, winning 4-0 against Djibouti’s Garde-Cotes on September 2, 2025.
As part of its preparations, the new FKF PL champions have been busy bolstering their ranks, with Harambee Stars defender Joash Onyango among those roped in ahead of their debut in the CAF games.
They claimed their maiden KPL title in February 2025 after dethroning record champions Gor Mahia from the perch.
Kagame Cup prize money
Other new signings in the club include Khadime Ndiaye (Senegal), Tansley Mosengo (DR Congo), Samuel Olewasegun (Nigeria), Exauce Misuri (DR Congo), Gideon Muyadi (DR Congo) and Mbombo Moise (DR Congo)
This season’s regional tournament, scheduled to run from September 2 to 15, features 12 elite teams, with the winner set to bag approximately Ksh4 million in prize money.
