Kabras, KCB pick wins as other big guns suffer defeats in Tisap 7s

The Tisap 7s tournament, taking place at the Eldoret Sports Club in Eldoret, Kenya, got off to an exciting start with some unexpected results and standout performances in the opening round.

Several teams made their mark, causing major upsets, while others delivered impressive wins.

Tisap 7s win big win

Christie 7s champions KCB Rugby kicked off their Tisap 7s campaign in style by defeating Homeboyz 33-5. This result turned out to be the most commanding victory of the opening round, setting a high standard for the competition.

In the first game of the day, Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad started their Tisap journey with a strong performance, crossing the try line three times to secure a 17-5 win over Mombasa RFC.

National 7s champions Menengai Oilers faced a tough challenge from MMUST but managed to secure a 14-12 victory in a closely contested match. The two conversions for Oilers proved to be the decisive factor in a game where both sides scored two tries each.

Kisumu beat Quins in Tisap 7s

Kisumu RFC delivered a surprising upset by defeating Kenya Harlequins 14-7, with two converted tries making the difference. Another upset in the opening round saw Strathmore Leos, who were Christie 7s finalists, go down 12-5 to Catholic Monks.

Series leaders Kabras Sugar continued their impressive form, winning 24-7 against Daystar Falcons in their opening game. Meanwhile, newcomers UoE Trojans staged a remarkable comeback and played a thrilling match against Mwamba RFC, resulting in a 19-all draw.

Nondies secured a convincing 21-5 victory over Nakuru RFC, thanks to three converted tries, propelling them to the top of pool D.
