Isak reveals Liverpool dream after completing British record transfer from Newcastle
Newly signed Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has revealed his dream after joining the Premier League champions as their new No. 9 on a long-term contract, which he signed on deadline day.
Isak, 25, established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading attackers during his three seasons with Newcastle United. Having arrived from La Liga side Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, the Swede scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for the St James’ Park club.
He scored 54 times in 86 Premier League outings for the Magpies, with 23 of those goals coming last season, when he finished second behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
“It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of, and I’m really looking forward to it,” Isak told the Liverpool website soon after finalising his move at the AXA Training Centre on transfer deadline day, Monday, September 1, 2025.
“I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans and getting back out there.”
Isak has now set his sights on winning trophies at Anfield with the Reds, who have a 100 per cent record in the 2025/26 English Premier League season heading into the international break.
“I think I have a lot to give; I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker, but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals, but much more than that as well. I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that].”
Isak has earned 52 caps for Sweden, scoring 16 goals.
He completed the British record move of 125 million pounds from Newcastle United to Liverpool on Monday, an eye-watering summer in the English Premier League.
His addition to the Reds is expected to reinforce the side’s attacking front, which also consists of Mohamed Salah and new signing Hugo Ekitike.
