Homeboyz wary of Tusker threat as league ends
Despite being back in the groove in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title chase following a 2-1 win over KCB at the weekend, Kakamega Homeboyz have declared there is no room for complacency.
The team’s Head Coach Bernard Mwalala made the proclamation in the wake of their league lead receiving an impending threat in the form of second-placed Tusker who are drooling to retain the title.
Tusker and Homeboyz are separated by three points and it will be suicidal for either team to drop points in their remaining fixtures and especially this time when the top-tier action enters the homestretch.
Homeboyz kept their hopes of clinching a maiden top-tier league title alive by vanquishing KCB at Bukhungu Stadium last Sunday, but Mwalala has warned his charges not to be carried away by the success.
“The players are overly excited and the spirits in them are discernible. Obviously, we are delighted with the win but are not celebrating yet since Tusker are also thirsting for the title,” said Mwalala.
