Homeboyz Rugby have been relegation from the Kenya Cup after enduring a winless campaign throughout the 2023/24 season.

The team, based in Jamhuri, was unable to fulfil their fixture against Mwamba RFC last weekend, resulting in a deduction of two points and leaving them with no chance of survival.

Homeboyz struggles

Their only positive outcome this season was a 16-16 draw against Kisumu RFC, earning them two points, which were subsequently deducted.

Having been promoted in 2011, Homeboyz Rugby are now set for the second tier as confirmed by league organizers. Kisumu RFC and Catholic Monks are still battling to avoid a similar fate.

“At the lower end of the log, it is the end of an era as Homeboyz are relegated after a 13-year stint while Monks and Kisumu are hanging on for dear life,” Kenya Cup announced.

In other matches over the weekend, Kabras Sugar maintained their flawless record in the Kenya Cup with a hard-fought 24-17 victory over Kenyatta University Blak Blad.

This result ensured the defending champions remained at the top of the table with 50 points from 10 consecutive bonus-point wins.

Meanwhile, Nondescripts enhanced their playoff chances with a narrow 11-10 win against Nakuru, while Strathmore Leos moved to safety with a 49-31 victory over Catholic Monks. The latter still has one more match to determine their fate in the Kenya Cup.
