Hat-trick glory for Riaro’s team at KCB Golf Tour in Nyanza

Christine Riaro and her all-star team of Tabitha Ojwang, Joyce Osike and Griffins Owino extended their dominance a the 12th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at Nyanza Golf Club, sealing a third consecutive victory at the Nyanza leg with a combined score of 105 points at the weekend.
The formidable foursome fended off a spirited challenge from the team of Elizabeth Wambi, Romy Sadhu, Francis Odhiambo and Lydia Selestin, who finished runners-up with 102 points.
Both teams have now booked slots in the series’ grand finale scheduled for December.
For Ojwang, the win was deeply emotional. Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, she remarked, “It has been a tough two months. I lost four family members. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to compete, but my teammates encouraged me to play, and we came to win. This result is a testament to our resilience and teamwork.”
The Nyanza leg saw 100 golfers take to the course with Hellen Muma emerging as the overall winner of the day after carding 40 Stableford points, edging out Sylvester Onyango on countback.
Emmanuel Brian claimed the junior title with a similarly strong 40-point finish.
In the men’s category, veteran Heroin Ikhohoro topped the leaderboard with 39 points, beating club captain Griffins Owino, who came second with 38.
Elizabeth Akinyi clinched the ladies’ title with 38 points, while Alice Gondi settled for second on 37.
Paul Otieno won the Nearest to the Pin award, while Longest Drive honours went to Luke Kipchirchir (men) and Pauline Chebet (ladies).
Josphat Simba scooped the guest winner trophy with 38 points, and Eliud Siganga emerged as the best staff player after returning 36 points.
Beyond the competition, KCB hosted a junior golf clinic and conducted a tree-planting exercise on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Nyanza Golf Club, as part of its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainability.
Attention now turns to the next leg of the tour, which will tee off on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Kiambu Golf Club.
