Harambee Stars ace urges fans to recreate rousing atmosphere on Thursday
Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder Ben Stanley Omondi has urged the Kenyan fans to recreate the same rousing atmosphere witnessed on Sunday, August 3, 2025, opener against DR Congo in the coming assignment.
Taking to his Facebook page on Monday, August 4, 2025, Omondi hailed the crucial role played by the fans who turned up in droves at Kasarani Stadium to cheer the team on.
The midfielder entered the fray in the second half as Benni McCarthy looked to see out the game by introducing more bodies and fresh legs in the midfield.
His cameo alongside Marvin Nabwire was ultimately vindicated as Kenya survived a tense ending to claim the points and start off their campaign with a win.
Stars will next take to the pitch on Thursday, August 7, 2025, with a clash against Angola next on the roster. The side succumbed to a 2-0 defeat in their Sunday opener against Morocco, with McCarthy’s team looking to compound matters on them with another loss.
“First game, first win. Man of the match to our fans. Bring the noise & energy again on Thursday,” he said.

His remarks come after midfielder Austin Odhiambo, who notched Kenya’s match-winning goal in the clash, broke his silence over the team’s performance in the opener.
Odhiambo expressed his joy and excitement, crediting the win as a major morale booster for the team as they prepare for the upcoming fixtures.
iI am happy, we are happy tumewin leo na imetupatia moral because the first game was so important, so tunalook forward to the game on Thursday, because we have a long way to go, hii ni motivation hii ni moral imatupatia for the next game,” he said.

The former AFC Leopards midfielder’s performance has drawn praise from fans, teammates, and football officials alike, with many pointing to him as one of the players to watch throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile, the CHAN game is set to continue this Monday, August 4, 2025, with two fixtures on the roster.
Niger and Guinea will serve as the first match of Match Day 3, starting at 5:00 pm.
The Uganda-Algeria clash will follow afterwards, kicking off at 8:00 pm.
