New Gor Mahia coach Sinisa Mihic has termed restoring the love and pride of K’Ogalo as his immediate task at the club.

Speaking to the club’s media shortly after being unveiled on February 3, 2025, Mihic pointed out that he comprehends the fan’s feelings coming from a country of football.

In reclaiming the glory, the 48-year-old trainer has tipped the club’s followers to play a pivotal role, as he rallied them to stick with the side even at times of adversity.

“I will make them proud, and happy and I want them to stand behind the team as they can. I need them as the 12th player. I know they just don’t love this club they live for it. I have experienced the same thing in Croatia. I know sometimes when results don’t go as expected they are angry. It’s natural to be upset when you don’t play better,” Mihic said.

Mihic is tasked with leading Gor’s quest for their title defence in a season the side has been plagued with a string of inconsistent results.

Following a poor start to the season that prompted coach Martin Neiva’s sacking, K’Ogalo has found it hard to regain the streak they enjoyed last season en route to the league triumph, with a spate of draws and losses doing little to help their quest of climbing the log.

The side remains third on the table after 18 games, six points below Tusker and Police FC who lead the standings with 38 points.

The coach has however remained optimistic, adding that he welcomes the pressure of the task ahead of his maiden taste of the Kenyan premier league.
The coach has additionally challenged the team’s technical bench and players to be ready for the demands associated with the club.

Demand better

“I want the fans to stay behind the team and demand better performance. Players need to accept this. You cannot be playing for Gor Mahia if you can’t handle the pressure and expectations of fans. I’m sure after a short time they will love us and support us,” he added.

Mihic’s job is well cut out with a litmus test against Tusker FC this Saturday, February, 8 2025 scheduled to start off his tenure.

Gor slumped to a 2-1 defeat in the first-leg fixture pitting the two rivals.
