By Joel Masibo, January 20, 2026Football Kenya Federation Premier League giants Gor Mahia FC have issued a warning to individuals and groups involved in the sale of counterfeit replica jerseys, terming the practice illegal and harmful to the club’s financial stability and brand integrity.
In a club statement dated Monday, January 20, 2026, K’Ogalo said the sale of fake kits is severely depriving the club of vital revenue while also undermining its partnership with the official kit manufacturer.
The club noted that information shared by its partners has helped identify some of the perpetrators, who will now face legal action.

Stamping out fake replicas
”We issue a stern warning against the sale of counterfeit replica jerseys. This illegal activity severely deprives the club of vital revenue and violates our partnership with the official kits manufacturer. Identified perpetrators are known, based on information shared by our partners and will face legal action without exception,” the statement signed by Club Secretary General Nicanor Arum said in part.
The club further urged its vast network of branches and supporters to actively help stop the spread of fake jerseys, stressing that vigilance from fans is crucial in protecting both the Gor Mahia brand and its loyal supporters. ”We urge all branches to actively help stop the spread of counterfeit jerseys. Your vigilance is essential to protect our brand and supporters,” it continued.

Gor Mahia, one of the most supported clubs in the country, relies heavily on merchandise sales as a key source of income to support operations, player welfare and long-term development. The club has intensified its efforts to professionalise its commercial structures in recent seasons, making the fight against counterfeit products a top priority.
Operational update
The warning comes amid wider operational updates by the club, including branch re-affiliations, steward management, media guidelines and the upcoming launch of season tickets.

”All stewards must report to the Chief Steward for game-day assignments. Payments will be issued the day after the game, as per club policy. On a positive note, the club is finalising the structure for season tickets and will announce their availability soon, once all details are confirmed. We sincerely appreciate your support and urge all fans to continue filling the stadium, purchasing official tickets and backing the team,” the statement said.
However, the crackdown on fake jerseys stood out as one of the most urgent issues, highlighting the financial and reputational risks posed by counterfeit merchandise.
The campaign against fake replica jerseys has also been take by Shabana FC.
