Gor Mahia faces a tough test in crucial clash against on-form Kenya Police FC side
Record Football Kenya Federation (FKF) champions Gor Mahia will have an opportunity to move up to third position in the league or drop to seven when they face Kenya Police FC on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
K’Ogalo is set to clash horns with a resurgent side, Kenya Police, at the Sportpesa Arena, Murang’a County at 3:00 pm.
Interim coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno will be looking to guide his team to a famous win against Kenya Police which has proved to be a thorn in the flesh for Gor Mahia.
The last time the two sides met in March 2024, Kenya Police inflicted pain on Gor Mahia fans by thrashing their side 3-1. Saturday’s encounter is a perfect opportunity for Gor Mahia to get their revenge or be humiliated further.
The last time Gor Mahia outsmarted Kenya Police was in April 2023 when they won one- nil but in December 2023, they played to a barren draw.
Recent runs
Gor Mahia heads to the match having secured a draw in a midweek clash against Shabana FC. Otieno’s charges failed to convert their numerous chances settling for a draw which left them sitting fourth in the FKFPL log.
Before that, Gor Mahia had recorded three straight wins against Kakamega Homeboyz, Mara Sugar and FC Talanta scoring a total of seven goals in those matches.
However, their winning spree was halted following a surprising defeat at the hands of Bidco United before securing a draw against Shabana.
On the other hand, Kenya Police FC have recorded an impressive run of results since the appointment of Etienne Ndayiragije as the new head coach. The former Azam FC coach took over the reins after the club’s management sent Anthony Kimani, Salim Babu and the entire technical bench parking over poor results that saw the Law Enforcers operate at the relegation zone.
They have won their last three matches against Nairobi City Stars, Mara Sugar and Bidco United. Kenya Police FC’s last defeat was against AFC Leopards (1-0).
A win against Gor Mahia would take them up to third in the FKFPL log and leapfrog the record champions.
