Police clarity on one of Mlolongo’s men found dead
The news about the missing Mlolongo men who were is expected to continue dominating headlines after two were found dead.
Late on Thursday, January 30, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) clarified reports surrounding the discovery of the body of the late Justus Mutumwa.
In a statement, NPS explained that the police were alerted of a body that was floating along the Nairobi River, Ruai area some 4 kilometres North of the station by a lady who was irrigating her vegetables along the said river on December 18, 2024.
NPS noted that the body of the deceased had bruises which prompted DCI officers to open a probe into the matter.

“The family of the late Mutumwa, oblivious to the Ruai incident, reported their missing kin at Athi River police station on 21/12/2024 (OB reference No. 23) alleging he had been missing since 17/12/2024.
“Meanwhile, the body remained unknown until yesterday when forensic investigations led by the relevant department was able to point out it was indeed that of the missing Justus Mutumwa,” the NPS statement read in part.
NPS emphasised that DCI was actively investigating the matter.
“The National Police Service reassures the public of its commitment to a thorough investigation of all Missing Persons reports and the public are equally urged to share any information they may have using the toll-free lines: 999; 911; 112 and FichuakwaDCI on 0800 766 203 or report at the nearest police station.”
“DCI is investigating the matter.”
Besides Mutumwa’s body, that of Martin Mwau was also positively identified on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Reactions are expected to continue streaming in with various stakeholders calling for proper probe and justice.

Rainfall to reduce from Friday
The Kenya Meteorological Department announced that the heavy rains battering Nairobi and its environs will subside starting Friday, January 31, 2025.
According to the weatherman, a reduction in rainfall is expected over the city and surrounding areas, with drier conditions anticipated to follow.

“The Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts a reduction in rainfall over Nairobi and surrounding areas beginning Friday, with drier conditions expected to follow,” Kenya Met announced.
The rains had caused flooding in various parts of the country especially Nairobi. Most roads were almost rendered impassable forcing residents to call on the county government to fix the drainage system.

MPs retreat ends
The National Assembly’s mid-term retreat is expected to end on Friday, January 31, 2024.
The week-long meeting brought together the leadership of the House, the House Business Committee, Chairpersons of House Committees, and all the MPs.
With the theme ‘Marshalling House Business: Progress Made and Lessons Learned,’ the retreat allowed the MPs to discuss House business, MPs’ welfare, and the role of Parliament in the integration of the East African Community (EAC).
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Masika Wetang’ula directed the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Health, Robert Pukose (Endebess), to invite the Ministry of Health and representatives from the Social Health Authority (SHA) next week to deliberate on the challenges facing the implementation of the SHA.
This followed concerns raised by Members of Parliament about poor service delivery, ineffective communication, inadequate funding, unclear implementation frameworks, and the strained relationship between citizens and the healthcare system.
FKFPL Friday match
On Friday, January 31, 2025, local football fans will be treated to one Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match, setting the mood for the weekend.
