Gor Mahia duo clinch league awards for October
By Luke Oluoch, November 21, 2025Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor and Shariff Musa have been feted as the top performers in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League for October.
Akonnor and Musa were recognised with the individual awards on Friday, November 21, 2025, after remarkable feats in the month.
The Ghanaian topped a list of October nominees that also had Patrick Odhiambo of Kakamega Homeboyz, Fred Ambani of AFC Leopards, and Tusker FC coach Charles Okere.
Best of the month
“Congratulations to Shariff Musa and Coach Charles Akonnor on being named the SportPesa League Player and Coach of the Month for October.
“We also appreciate Sportpesa Kenya for recognising and celebrating top performers in the league through this initiative,” a statement from FKF read.
The tactician walked home with Ksh75,000 prize money.
Musa feted
Shariff Musa Sirengo piped his teammates, Michael Kibwage and Enock Morrison, for the awards that also saw AFC Leopards’ defender Vincent Mahiga among the four nominees.
He received a customised SportPesa League Player of the Month trophy and 50,000 shillings for emerging top.
During the month, Musa was in top form, claiming a goal and an assist as Gor maintained an unblemished record.
K’Ogalo’s winning run started with a solitary-goal victory over KCB.
The record champions extended the fine form with a victory over close challengers Posta Rangers, where Shariff bagged the assist before sealing the month’s assignment against Mathare United.
On-song Shariff
The winger’s goal for the month came against the Slum Boys.
The remarkable run shot the record champions to the top of the league standings heading to the round 10 matches.
Gor are perched at the summit of the log with 16 points, one better than Kakamega Homeboys, who are second. TheGreen Army have played seven games, winning five, losing and drawing one apiiece.
Gor is currently ramping up preparation for their next league tie. The log leaders will host former champions, Tusker FC, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 3:00 pm
