Gor Mahia assistant coach lauds K’Ogalo’s fighting spirit
Gor Mahia assistant coach Kobi-Mensah Bismark has hailed the team’s determination, hailing it as the difference as the team claimed its maiden league win on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Speaking after edging Sofapaka 2-0 in Dandora, Kobi stated that the team was hungrier, having approached the game on an opening loss to Bidc United.
“At the end of the day, we wanted the results more than anything, and it has paid off,” he stated on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
“It is a good thing to win and respond after last week’s disappointment. Today’s win is a good sign, and our players responded very well,” he added.
His sentiment comes after defender Mike Kibwage said the win was as much for the fans as it was for the players.
“Kwanza kabisa, game haijakuwa easy. Opponents walikuwa wanaitaka na pia sisi tulikuwa tunaitaka. Despite game ya last kulose, leo tulikuwa more prepared na tulikuwa tunataka hii win zaidi. Ju pia ya mafans. Tunafeel wanadeserve better. Wanause a lot of time na resources. So payback time yao ni tu kuwin. So nafeel leo tulikuwa tunafaa kujiredeem na ndio maana tumejaribu kuskuma hivo zaidi,” he said.
Kibwage echoed his coach’s sentiments, stressing that the team’s mentality and physicality made the difference.
“Leo mentality na physicality ya hiyo game imesaidia. Ukiangalia game last tulianza slow na tulikuwa more relaxed sana. Nafeel leo tumekuwa aggressive; tumekuwa the better side kuanzia ukiangalia the better part of the game, ”he stated.
Adukwaw on the double
Gor Mahia struggled in the season opener against Bidco United, losing 1-0 after conceding a late penalty.

The team got back on the winning ways after Ebenezer Adukwaw notched a brace to inspire them to a maiden league victory.
The attacker stormed K’Ogalo to the lead after the opening half, following a melee at the visitor’s goal.
He sealed his double by announcing his arrival to the Kenyan top league eight minutes after Gor had taken his solo effort lead to the breather.
In other ties, Tusker FC’s untravelling season continued unabated in a 2-1 loss to Sammy Omollo’s Posta Rangers charges.
Tusker woes
Former Gor man Eliud Lokuwam replicated Adukwaw’s heroic exploits as Erick Kapaito’s strike proved a mere consolation for the Brewers.
The result compounded matters for Charles Okere’s team, the back-to-back defeats condemning them to the foot of the log as the Mailmen extended their dream start to the campaign to ascend to the league summit.
In Migori, host Mara Sugar and Kakamega Homeboyz both got off their league campaign on a tied outcome, following a barren draw.
