Ghanaian import Adukwaw inspires Gor Mahia to first league victory
By Luke Oluoch, September 27, 2025Gor Mahia’s new signing Ebenezer Adukwaw was in a scintillating form, notching a brace in a 2-0 win against Sofapaka, as Gor claimed its maiden league win of the 2025/26 season at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
The Ghanian import claimed the match plaudits as Gor shrugged off their opening day’s defeat to Bidco United to get their campaign back on track.
Interestingly, Adukwaw’s signing, back in August 2025, raised eyebrows with the fans who expressed doubts about the attacker’s unattached status, prior to his move to the record champions.
Gor’s opener
He, however, saved his best for the second game, storming K’Ogalo to the lead after the opening half, following a melee at the visitor’s goal.
With the opener doing little to settle the nerves of the green army, Adukwaw effectively announced his arrival eight minutes after Gor had taken his solo effort lead to the breather.
The attacker showed rare awareness to lob a long-range effort over Sofapaka’s keeper, capping the goal with a stylish celebration to seal a well-deserved brace.
The win assured Charles Akkonor his first win of the season, as Ezekiel Akwana’s charges recorded their first loss of the season.

Meanwhile, Tusker FC’s untravelling season continued unabated in a 2-1 loss to Sammy Omollo’s Posta Rangers charges.
Tusker woes
Former Gor man Eliud Lokuwam replicated Adukwaw’s heroic exploits as Erick Kapaito’s strike proved a mere consolation for the Brewers.
The result compounded matters for Charles Okere’s team, the back-to-back defeats condemning them to the foot of the log as the Mailmen extended their dream start to the campaign to ascend to the league summit.
In Migori, hosts Mara Sugar and Kakamega Homeboyz both got off their league campaign on a tied outcome in a barren draw.
Abana be Ingo, who sat out of the opening fixtures with their match day opponents engaged in international commitments, could not break the determined hosts in the cagey affair.
