By Collins Amanga, June 1, 2024
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed his fondness for FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards.
Speaking in Bungoma County, an area known for its strong support of the team, Gachagua declared his allegiance to the Big Cats.
Gachagua love for Leopards
The Deputy President, addressing the public at the Masinde Muliro Stadium in Bungoma County during Madaraka Day celebrations, shared his long-standing passion for football and his enduring support for AFC Leopards.
“Before the advent of Manchester United and Arsenal, we used to have a contest in the 80s and 90s between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. During that time, I was a keen fan of football. I was and remain a great supporter of AFC Leopards,” Gachagua said.
His declaration aligns him with other prominent politicians such as Musalia Mudavadi, Johnstone Sakaja, and Eugene Wamalwa, who also support AFC Leopards.
The Leopards are set to face Nzoia Sugar at the newly refurbished Masinde Muliro Stadium in Bungoma County in the Madaraka Cup.
The match is scheduled for June 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Leopards are seeking a victory after missing out on the league and FKF Cup in the 2023/24 season.
Nzoia Sugar, despite their relegation following the 2023/24 campaign, will also be chasing a positive result.
Gachagua commitment
During his address, Gachagua reiterated his commitment to supporting President William Ruto in achieving the administration’s goals for Kenya.
“You are the vision carrier of our administration, and those of us you have given the privilege to serve under you remain committed and focused to assist you so that the people of Kenya have better lives and for the improvement of our economic fortunes,” he stated.
