Former Gor ace Onyango at crossroads with Tanzanian club Sim
When Joash ‘’Berlin Wall” Onyango joined Tanzanian giants Simba on a two-year deal after the expiry of his contract with multiple Kenyan champions Gor Mahia, he was received with ostentation akin to those of European stars.
Onyango was almost an indispensable player at Simba that he had his contract extended by two more years by the Msimbazi-based side in June this year.
Then, Simba spokesperson, Ahmed Ally, confirmed the development but noted that although the demands by the defender were all not met, the two parties agreed on the new deal.
“On Onyango, Kenyans should not be worried because we have finalised everything concerning his contract. He will be a Simba player for the next two seasons,” Ally said.
After the acceptance by both parties, anxiousness has already started creeping in for the swashbuckling Harambee Stars defender who wants his contract ended. He has reported Simba to Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for failure to release him to join clubs interested in signing him.
According to reports in Tanzania, Singida Big Stars, who snapped Simba reject in ex-Gor Mahia Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere, have made a move to acquire the services of Onyango in what has been described as an irresistible deal.
Simba are adamant that they will not release Onyango with the club’s Board of Director’s Chairman Salim Abdallah, insisting that the Kenyan was still their player and that his grievances would be addressed.
