Bidco United will hold three-day trials as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming 2023/24 FKF Premier League campaign.

The club has experienced player departures, with Stephen Waruru and Lambert Oyuga retiring, while Edwin Mukolwe, Batts Awita, Eric Obuodho, Peter Anyona, Lucas Indeche, Eric Gichimu, John Nairuka, Brian Nyakan, David Orem, Geoffrey Kariuki, and Zachary Gathu are reported to be leaving as well.

Bidco plans

To address the gaps in their squad, Bidco United will conduct trials from Monday, July 17 to Wednesday, July 19.

The first day of trials will take place at Delmonte Grounds, followed by Tuesday and Wednesday sessions at Thika Stadium, all starting at 8 am.

The club aims to identify eight talented players between the ages of 18 and 24 to bolster their team, emphasizing a focus on quality and youth.

Bidco United also plans to streamline their playing unit to create a leaner squad for the upcoming season.

“With 12 players leaving the club and 2 retiring from playing and being assigned new roles in the technical area, we will have a 3-day trial period As from Monday 17 to Wednesday 19. On Monday Delmonte Grounds, Tuesday and Wednesday at Thika stadium at 8 am,” the club revealed.

Bidco’s targets

“The club is keen on getting 8 young talented quality players between 18-24 years to fill the gaps in the team. The club will also reduce it’s playing unit to a leaner squad this season,” the statement added.

In the previous season, Bidco United finished 13th in the FKF Premier League with 36 points, comprising nine wins, nine draws, and 16 losses.

With their sights set on improvement, the club aims to make strategic additions to their squad through the upcoming trials.

Meanwhile, Mathare United, who were relegated from the Premier League, have also announced trials as part of their preparations for the 2023/24 National Super League season.

The trials will be held at the Goan Institute grounds in Pangani, Nairobi, starting from Monday, July 24. Each day of the trials will commence at 9 am.

The club has been actively working on rebuilding its team, including the formation of a new technical unit, with further details to be unveiled in due course.

Mathare United are committed to assembling a competitive squad as they aim to make a strong comeback in the upcoming season.
