FKF bosses visit Harambee Stars camp ahead of CHAN 2024

Football Kenya Federation officials on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, paid a visit to the Harambee Stars team camp at the Nyayo National Stadium ahead of the upcoming CHAN 2024 games.

Led by President Hussein Mohammed and CEO Harold Ndege, the officials passed a message of morale and solidarity with Benni McCarthy’s team, with only ten days to go to the start of the continental games.

“A big thank you to FKF President Hussein Mohammed and CEO Harold Ndege for passing by today’s session to boost the boys,” a statement from Harambee Stars read.

The visit comes barely a day after Mohammed issued a communication clarifying a purported leadership shake-up within the federation, fronted by a local veteran journalist.

In a post on X, Mohammed urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that NEC member Abdalla Yusuf had replaced football legend McDonald Mariga as FKF vice president.

Hussein’s deputy, McDonald Mariga, was, however, not present, or at least mentioned in the update as among the officials who visited the team.

The development also comes after Stars withdrew from the Four Nations Tournament on Monday, July 21, 2025, having initially boarded a flight to Tanzania for the mini-tournament organised as part of preparations for the upcoming 2024 CHAN games.

Meanwhile, coach Benni McCarthy has revealed that striker Masud Juma, recently tied to Iran’s Esteghlal FC, is among the players eligible for final selection, having signed for an undisclosed lower-tier side.

McCarthy revealed that the player who has been part of Kenya’s preparations is poised to feature in the upcoming continental games.

“Masud Juma is another player who has been communicated to us that he is back in Kenya. He has signed with a first or a second division team, and he is eligible to play.

If I want to include him, I am welcome to do so,” he said.

McCarthy also reiterated the team’s TB commitment to giving the best performance in the upcoming games.

“We decided to come back and continue our training at home. We are in the group of death, and if we don’t prepare adequately, we are going to have shortcomings, and people will ask questions. We don’t want to make any excuses. So our coming back to Kenya was the best possible way of going on with our preparations,” he added.
