FKF boss rallies Kenyan football family with hopeful 2026 message
By Kiprono Keileb, January 1, 2026Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has closed the year with a message of gratitude and hope, calling on all stakeholders in Kenyan football to embrace unity, trust and shared responsibility as the country prepares for 2026.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Mohammed reflected on the contributions of players, coaches, referees, clubs, fans, partners and administrators, saying the progress of the game depends on collective effort.

Mohammed’s remarks were framed as an end-of-year reflection, but also as a rallying call ahead of a new season that many within the football fraternity hope will bring stability and growth. From grassroots competitions to top-flight leagues and national teams, expectations remain high that reforms and cooperation will translate into better results on and off the pitch.
“As the year comes to an end, I want to thank everyone who has played a role in Kenyan football, players, coaches, referees, clubs, fans, partners and administrators,” he wrote
The FKF boss acknowledged that the sport thrives on the dedication of many different groups, often working under difficult circumstances. For players and coaches, this includes long training hours and competitive pressure. For referees and administrators, it involves maintaining standards and organisation. Fans, meanwhile, continue to provide passion and support that keep the game alive across the country.

“The year ahead calls for more collaboration, more trust and a shared commitment to improving the game at all levels,” the statement reads
Mohammed’s emphasis on collaboration and trust appears aimed at healing long-standing divisions within Kenyan football. In recent years, disputes between officials, clubs and other stakeholders have at times overshadowed the sport itself. His message suggests a desire to turn the page and focus on common goals, including youth development, league competitiveness and stronger national teams.
“I look forward to working together in the new year,” he wrote

The FKF president said the federation is ready to engage with all stakeholders as the new year begins. Observers say this cooperation will be critical in delivering meaningful reforms, especially in areas such as grassroots football, women’s football and referee development.
“Wishing you a peaceful and successful 2026,” he concluded
As Kenyan football heads into the new year, Mohammed’s message struck a hopeful tone, urging unity and shared purpose.
