FKF boss rallies behind Harambee Stars ahead of Ivory Coast clash

In a statement shared on his official X account on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Hussein wished the team success and urged Kenyans to stand behind them as they take on one of Africa’s strongest sides.
“Wishing the Harambee Stars success as they face the Ivory Coast in their final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers today,” he said.

The much-anticipated match will be played in the Ivory Coast at 10:00 pm, marking the last test for the Stars in a qualification campaign that has been as challenging as it has been promising. The FKF boss emphasised the importance of ending the qualifiers on a strong note, noting that every game is part of a bigger effort to rebuild the national team and strengthen Kenya’s football standards.
“Let’s wrap up on a positive note as we continue rebuilding and aim to always compete at the highest level,” he added.
Hussein’s message comes at a time when many football fans have been calling for long-term planning, better investment in local talent, and more consistent support for the national team. His call to “rebuild” reflects the federation’s ongoing mission to stabilise the team following years of administrative challenges and inconsistent performances.
