FKF boss Hussein Mohammed holds talks with FIFA officials
Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has met top FIFA officials amid the federation seeking collaborations to develop the game in the country.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 24, 2035, the FKF boss confirmed having met FIFA Regional Technical Consultants Ali Mwebe and Serame Letsoaka at Kandanda House, together with FKF General Secretary Harold Ndege and Football Development Director Francis Kimanzi.
Hussein Mohammmed described the visit as timely when the country is fast-tracking football development, days after staging the historic 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
”Their visit strengthens our ongoing work with FIFA to grow the game in Kenya through stronger technical programmes and talent development,” Mohammed said.
In a separate statement, the Football Kenya Federation said; ”The visit reinforces our collaboration with FIFA in driving football growth in Kenya. RTCs are FIFA-appointed experts who advise member associations on technical programmes, talent development, and the strengthening of football structures,” the statement said in part.
Hussein calls for Rising Starlets’ support
At the same time, Hussein Mohammed urged football enthusiasts in the country to fill the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Sunday, September 28, 2025, as the Kenya U20 women’s national team, Rising Starlets, take on Ethiopia in the second leg of the 2026 FIFA U20 World Cup Qualifiers.
”Let’s come together this Sunday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex and cheer on the Rising Starlets in their crucial return leg match of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia. Just like we did for The Harambee Stars during CHAN, let’s fill every seat in the stadium and encourage our ladies as they strive to represent the nation on the world’s biggest stage,” Hussein Mohammed said.
In preparation for the Sunday assignments, the Rising Starlets defeated Ulinzi Starlets 2-0 in a friendly match at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, with goals from Emily Morang’a and Elizabeth Mideva on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The match served as part of the team’s proper warm-up for the Kenyan girls ahead of the particular FIFA U20 World Cup qualifiers return-leg fixture, which will be played at the same venue following a 1-1 draw in the first leg held last Sunday in Addis Ababa.
