Kenya’s duo of Faith Cherotich and Doris Lemngole stormed the 3000m Women’s Steeplechase final at the ongoing 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Faith Cherotich won her semifinal with 9:13.95, while Doris Lemngole joined her in the search for Kenya’s third gold medal at the championships after a clocking of 9:08.97 in the semis on Monday morning, September 15, 2025.

This comes hours after Faith Kipyegon and Nelly Chepchirchir stormed through Semi-Final 2, booking their spots in the women’s 1500m final at the competitions on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

The qualification assured three spots for Team Kenyan in the final, with Dorcas Ewoi joining the mix.

“Crossing that finish line filled me with so much joy, and when I looked back and saw Dorcus right behind me, my heart was even happier. We had planned and dreamed of qualifying together, and now that the three of us are through to the finals, it feels so special. This moment means everything, and now it’s up to us to give our very best in the finals on Tuesday,” Faith Kipyegon said after her victory in the women’s 1500m semi-final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
