By , July 18, 2022

Kenyan International Eric Ouma helped his side AIK Football pick a 1-0 win over Kalmar FF in the Swedish top flight league, Allsvenskan match played on Sunday at Friends Arena.

Ouma started in his usual left-back role and provided an assist in the match as he set up right-back Mikael Lustig for the lone goal of the match. Ouma whipped in a cross from the left side and Lustig connected onto it scoring a brilliant screamer.

Eric Ouma’s 14th start

It was Ouma’s 14th start this season in 15 matches played in this campaign.

This season, the fullback has played 1190 minutes for the club. Collins Shichenje, his Kenyan counterpart, was also included in the matchday roster but did not play.

In May, the Kenyan international signed a four-year contract with AIK, having previously played for FKF Premier League club AFC Leopards.

Shichenje is a versatile midfielder who can play in a number of positions, including the central defence. Despite four appearances on the bench this season, he is yet to make his competitive debut.

Henry Meja, on the other hand, did not play. The former Tusker FC striker, who joined the club in January 2022, has made just two starts and four substitute appearances. Meja and Shichenje will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Ouma, who has established himself as a regular for the team.

AIK are third on the standings with 28 points just two behind the league leaders Djurgardens who are on 15 points.

Okumu’s Gent are preparing for the new season set to kick off on Friday 22 July. They will face Standard de Liège in the opener.
