Ex-Man United defender to coach Eric Ouma at AIK Football
Harambee Stars defender Eric Ouma has a new coach at Swedish professional football club AIK Football Club, as former Manchester United defender Henning Berg takes charge.
Berg’s appointment comes following the departure of Andreas Brännström, and his contract with AIK will extend until December 2023.

Expressing his pride in joining the club, Berg emphasized AIK’s rich history and passionate fan base.
He believes that AIK has tremendous potential for improvement in performance and is eager to work alongside the players, coaching staff, administration, and management to elevate the club to the top of Swedish football.
“I am looking forward to becoming part of AIK. It is a proud and traditional club with fantastic supporters.
“AIK has great potential and I am really looking forward to developing and improving our performances and results together with the players, the rest of the coaching staff, administration and management. Together we will do everything we can to take AIK back to the top of Swedish football,” Berg said.
With a notable career as both a player and a coach, the 53-year-old Berg has a wealth of experience. He began his playing career at KFUM in Oslo before moving on to Vålerenga IF and Lillestrøm SK in the Norwegian top league.

In January 1993, Berg signed with Blackburn Rovers FC in England and played a crucial role in their Premier League triumph during the 1994/1995 season.
After five seasons at Blackburn Rovers, he joined Manchester United in the summer of 1997.
Berg returned to Blackburn Rovers after the start of his fourth season with Manchester United, eventually helping them secure promotion to the Premier League for the 2001/2002 season.
His playing career concluded at the Scottish club Rangers FC in the 2003/2004 season. Berg also represented Norway in international competitions, earning 100 caps and scoring nine goals while participating in the World Cups of 1994 and 1998, as well as the European Championship of 2000.
Transitioning to coaching in 2005, Berg started at FK Lyn before moving to Lillestrøm SK. He then had a brief stint at Blackburn Rovers as manager before joining Legia Warsaw, where he won the Polish top league, Ekstraklasa, in the 2013/2014 season.
Berg subsequently spent time at Hungarian club Videoton FC, followed by coaching positions in Norway with Stabæk Fotball, and then in Cyprus with AC Omonia and Pafos FC. Throughout his coaching career, Berg has amassed a total of 502 competitive matches.
Berg’s achievements as a coach include being named Coach of the Year in Poland in 2013/2014 and in Cyprus in 2020/2021.
His vast experience and track record make him a valuable addition to AIK Football Club as they aim to reach new heights in Swedish football under his guidance.
