As the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games enter day 8, Kenya’s men’s football team will face off with their Burundian counterparts at the Kenya Ports Authority’s Mbaraki Stadium.

The match comes just days after Uganda defeated Kenya in the opening men’s football match on December 8, 2024, with a resounding 3-0 victory.

The Ugandan legislators stamped their authority upon the commencement of the match, with Godfrey Wakooli finding the back of the net in the 11th minute.

Peter Ogwang, the Ugandan Sports Minister, doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 22nd minute, ensuring a comfortable 2-0 lead before half-time.

After the break, Uganda maintained their dominance as Wakooli completed his brace in the 53rd minute, effectively sealing the match’s fate.

Winning streak

In a fixture that is expected to generate a lot of excitement, the Kenyan MPs are upbeat after the country’s women’s volleyball team thrashed Burundi’s side on all the sets played on Friday, December 13, 2024.

The team captained by Nyandarua MP Faith Gitau proved formidable with its resounding 4-0 victory over the Burundian MPs with strikes by Senator Joyce Korir and Irene Mayaka setting the stage for a dominant start.

The match also comes hot on the heels of a clash between the Kenyan men MPs and the Burundians in a volleyball match which was forced into a fifth set following a comeback by the French-speaking East African nation.

During the opening set, Kenya won 25-21, before Burundi stormed back to dominate the next two sets 25-11 and 25-14.
