Gor Mahia had a dream start to the 2024/25 FKF Premier League, defeating Mathare United 4-0 at Machakos Stadium.

The defending champions were playing their first match of the season after missing the opening three rounds due to their participation in the Champions League.

Gor Mahia took the lead just before halftime when Shariff Musa’s cutback found Austin Odhiambo, who made no mistake, sending K’Ogalo into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Four minutes into the second half, Gor Mahia doubled their lead when Musa’s shot deflected off a Mathare defender and into the net. Geoffrey Ochieng added a third goal 15 minutes from time, before new signing Gideon Bendeka sealed the win with a fourth, ensuring Gor Mahia collected three points in their season opener.

In the earlier kick-off, Beja Nyamawi’s goal was enough to secure Mathare United a 1-0 win over Sofapaka. Sofapaka remains winless this season under coach Robert Matano.

Elsewhere, Bidco United and FC Talanta played to a 1-1 draw at Utalii Grounds.
