Delta eSports drops roster ahead of high-stakes Carry1st Africa Cup
By People Daily Digital Reporter, July 25, 2025With just weeks remaining until Africa’s most anticipated esports tournament reaches its climax in Lagos, Nigeria, Kenya’s Delta eSports has unveiled its official 2025 roster for the Carry1st Africa Cup and Call of Duty®: Mobile World Championship qualifiers.
In a fiery social media announcement on Friday, Delta eSports declared:
“Delta eSports official 2025 Carry1st Africa Cup and World Champs Roster 🔥We’re bringing the heat to Lagos 🔥Stay tuned!”

The post sent a ripple of excitement through Kenya’s gaming community and placed Delta eSports at the centre of a new era in African esports — one where the continent is no longer a spectator, but a contender on the global stage.
This year marks the first time that African teams will compete for a coveted slot at the Call of Duty®: Mobile World Championship, thanks to a partnership between publisher Carry1st and Activision. The Carry1st Africa Cup, now an officially recognised qualifier for the world finals, is offering African players a legitimate shot at a share of the Ksh129 million (USD $1 million) prize pool.
Delta eSports, known for its aggressive playstyle and grassroots community outreach, is among the frontrunners representing Kenya in the regional showdowns. With over 200 teams and 1,000 players from seven African regions vying for glory, the stakes are higher than ever.
The tournament has featured weekly online qualifiers since May, culminating in a LAN Grand Final in Lagos this August, where the top teams will battle it out for a Ksh1.9 million (USD $15,000) prize pool and a single golden ticket to the world finals.
Delta’s reveal — which teased confidence and preparation — signals the team’s readiness for the international spotlight. While the roster names were not immediately disclosed in the post, insiders say the lineup includes some of Kenya’s most decorated mobile esports athletes.
“This is a proud moment for African esports,” said Guillaume Noé, VP of Growth at Carry1st.
“Kenyan gamers now have a real chance to play on the world stage. Last year, we saw incredible talent from the continent. This year, we’re going even bigger,” he added.
The 2025 edition of the Carry1st Africa Cup includes players from Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Uganda, and Francophone West Africa.
A newly introduced Wildcard Slot opens doors to teams from countries outside the core seven — such as Mauritius and Tunisia — ensuring pan-African representation.
Jeffrey Gullett, Co-Head of Call of Duty®: Mobile at Activision, called the tournament a “major step forward” in globalising competitive play.
