David Ouma guides Singida Black Stars to Cup final in Tanzania

Former Harambee Starlets and Sofapaka coach David Ouma is one game away from claiming a maiden silverware in the Tanzania league after guiding Singida Black Stars to the cup final of CRDB Federation Cup on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Ouma charges beat reigning champions Simba SC 3-1 in the Cup’s semi-final to book their spot in the finals berth, where they will face rivals Yanga SC.
The win saw the Kenyan coach and his charges avenge a painful defeat suffered against the same opponent on Saturday, May 28, 2028, in a league encounter.
Additionally, it continued their impressive fine outing in May, coming weeks after they booked their ticket to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup.

Singida Black Stars had clinched their spot in next season’s continental tournament without kicking a ball after Young Africans (Yanga) secured a 2-0 victory over JKT Tanzania in the Federation Cup (FA Cup) semi-final last weekend.
The result guaranteed Singida a top-four finish in the Premier League campaign, a feat sufficient for participation in the continental ties due to the distribution of continental slots by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).
Under TFF regulations, Tanzania is allocated four slots in CAF club competitions – two for the CAF Champions League and two for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking on Sunday, May 22, 2025, after their status was sealed, Ouma reveled in the attainment of season targets.
“I’m motivated and happy to get this club the honours of featuring in the CAF games. It means we have achieved the targets we have set as a team. One of our main goals at the beginning of the season was to finish in the top four and qualify for CAF competitions. Many teams look forward to featuring in such games. The opportunity to compete in Africa is now here, and we have to show we are ready for the demands of the new stage,” he said.
Ouma joined Black Stars on February 4, 2025, following the departure of Algerian coach Miloud Hamdi.
His coming coincided with a significant turn of form with the club cruising to a run of six wins, two draws, and three defeats in the coach’s first 11 matches.
