Coach Baraza: Why Kakamega Homeboyz will take FKF Cup campaign seriously

Kakamega Homeboyz coach Francis Braza has restated the importance of the Football Kenya Federation Cup as the 2024/25 edition kicks off with round 64.

The 2023 winners will be in Kisumu’s Moi Stadium to take on TBM Health FC on Saturday, February 22, 2025, and the coach says they will be assigning the tie the same focus they did when they bagged the tourney.

The coach says the prospect of representing the country in the continental games is all the motivation they need.

“We will be taking the FKF Cup seriously. For sure, it is a good opportunity to represent the country if we push well in the competition. We will be there to compete and hopefully do well in this edition of games,” Baraza told People Daily.

The Kakamega-based side claimed the maiden silverware in a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Tusker FC on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the MISC Kasarani Stadium.

Gor and Leopards opponents

Premier League giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will face teams from the lower division in their preliminary games of the Football Kenya Federation Cup.

Gor Mahia, aiming to advance to the final this season, will face KSG Ogopa FC, a National Division Two Eastern Zone side.

On the other hand, AFC Leopards will face Nyanza Regional League side Dero FC in Round 64 action.

Defending champions

Kenya Police, the reigning champions, will begin their campaign with a duel against National Division Two Central Zone side, Superior Hotel.

“The Round of 64 will be played this weekend on February 22nd and 23rd, 2025, followed by the Round of 32 in March, then by the Round of 16 in April. The quarterfinals and semifinals are set for May, with the grand finale scheduled for June.
