Kenya’s under 18 girls’ rugby national team head coach Sarah Agola Otieno has challenged the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) to work hand in hand with Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) and develop a curriculum for rugby that will see Kenya shoot back to the global charts as a rugby powerhouse again.

Speaking at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani in Nairobi on Monday, Atieno bemoaned the little time that coaches have to prepare the youth for global events adding that for the country to be successful, players should be monitored continuously in schools.

“There is little that I can do with less than ten days in camp. Earlier on we had given the girls a lesson plan that we hope they followed when they were in their respective schools with their coaches, so here I am trying to just fine tune a few areas that I have noticed might be of weakness to us when we face Canada,” said Atieno the also first female rugby referee in Kenya.
