Nairobi City Stars stun Homeboyz at Bukhungu
Kakamega Homeboyz experienced consecutive defeats for the first time in the FKF Premier League this season, succumbing to a 1-0 loss against Nairobi City Stars in a match held at Bukhungu Stadium.
Before this encounter, Homeboyz had an impressive record at home, losing just one of their last 11 matches since June.
Homeboyz home run
Their sole home defeat was against KCB Football Club in late September. Eager to avoid consecutive losses after their previous away defeat against AFC Leopards, Homeboyz faced a formidable challenge.
Nairobi City Stars entered the match in excellent form, having secured victories in their last four matches. They continued their winning streak in Kakamega, claiming a fifth consecutive triumph.
The first half concluded without any goals, and it took until the 60th minute for the visitors to break the deadlock.
Clifford Ouma’s powerful shot was punched back into play by the Homeboyz goalkeeper, finding Wycliffe Ouma, who skillfully tucked it into the net, opening his account for Nairobi City Stars.
Maintaining this slim lead, Nairobi City Stars successfully denied Homeboyz any goals, securing valuable three points in a challenging away fixture.
Homeboyz miss opportunity
The loss prevented Homeboyz from climbing to the second spot in the FKF Premier League standings.
They currently hold the fourth position with 27 points, comprising eight wins, three draws, and five losses.
Nairobi City Stars, on the other hand, have closed in on Homeboyz with a similar impressive run.
Homeboyz are scheduled to resume league action in January against Kenya Police, while City Stars will face FC Talanta.
