Christie 7s: Livestream ticket holders to get refund after day 1 hitch

Kenya Harlequin FC has announced full refunds for all paid livestream viewers of the 59th Christie 7s tournament after experiencing technical difficulties on the opening day.

In a press statement released on their X account on Sunday, August 17, 2025, the club apologised for the inconvenience caused by challenges with their paid livestream platform during Day 1 of the rugby tournament.

“Kenya Harlequin FC wishes to address our fans and stakeholders regarding the livestream of the 59th Christie 7s tournament. On Day 1, we experienced challenges with the paid livestream platform,” the statement reads.

Ticket refunds

The club has confirmed that all affected viewers, including both single-ticket holders from Day 1 and season ticket holders who had purchased access to the entire tournament, will be fully reimbursed.

“Day 1 single-ticket holders will be fully reimbursed. Season ticket holders will also be refunded in full, as the livestream has been made free for all fans,” the statement confirmed.

The club indicated that specific refund details will be communicated directly to all affected fans, though no timeline was provided for when the reimbursements will be processed.

Club’s response to challenges

In the statement, the clubs acknowledged the frustration caused by the technical difficulties but emphasised their commitment to delivering quality rugby coverage to fans.

To resolve this, they further announced that all matches from Day 2 onwards will be streamed live and free.

“To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, from Day 2 onwards, all matches will be streamed live and free. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused,” the club stated in their press release.
