The Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Rugby team, Monks, have set their eyes on improved tidings after impressing in the concluded circuit of the Prinsloo, where the team finished in a podium position.

In what went down as a remarkable attempt of punching above their weight, Monks ended the run on third after downing Nakuru-based outfit Menengai Oilers in a pulsating third-place playoff at the Nakuru Athletics Club on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

The club has rallied its charges for the next stop of the Critise Sens set to go down on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

“We finished third at the Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru after edging out Menengai Oilers in the third-place finals. Focus now shifts to the Christie 7s on 16th-17th August. Well in mates it can only get better,” the team stated.

The university team proved the wild card of the Prinsloo Sevens, edging out Mwamba Rugby 12-7 in the main cup quarters before seeing their march to a dream finale appearance ended at the hands of eventual winners, Strathmore Leos, in the semifinals.

The side, captained by Hassan Wambani, regrouped to claim the third-place playoff tie by downing Menengai Oilers 17-10 for the podium finish.
