Businessman Zedekiah Bundotich, popularly known as Buzeki, has criticized the trend of politicians organizing one-day football tournaments for short-term branding gains.

Buzeki, who contested the Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial seat believes that politicians should focus on implementing long-term solutions and enacting supportive laws for the sports sector.

Buzeki advice

“Politicians who want to gain publicity by organizing one-day football tournaments for our unemployed hustlers need not be too self-serving. They should prioritize long-term solutions and enact laws and policies that support this goal,” Buzeki said in a statement on his X account.

Buzeki spoke of the importance of establishing football academies to develop talent and create employment opportunities for the youth.

He also urged the government to consider reimbursing companies that invest in sports, creating a conducive environment for long-term growth in the sector.

Commending former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama for setting up a football academy in Busia County, Buzeki highlighted the significance of initiatives that go beyond short-term gains.

Buzeki message to Govt

“Rather than solely aiming for short-term branding gains, it is essential to establish properly managed Football academies that can foster authentic talent and offer employment opportunities to the youth. Additionally, the GOK should offer a 90% Reimbursement to companies/institutions that invest in the sports industries. This will create numerous opportunities for young talented teenagers. Well done to Wanyama, he has done one,” he concluded.
