Kenya Police Bullet’s goal-getter Rebecca Okwaro has dedicated her2025 golden boot award to her father Julius Okwaro, thanking him for his steadfastness in her career and life in general.

Okwaro who was instrumental in Bullets title defence this season, managed to score 16 goals in 21 games to stand tall at the summit of the Football Kenya Federation’s top scorers chart. Her dad was present at the Afraha Stadium, Nakuru last Sunday to witness the brilliance of the Harambee Starlets forward who grabbed a brace in Bullets’ 4-0 win over Trinity Starlets to seal the 2025 championship.

“I dedicate this golden boot to my father. He has been amazing, he has taken care of me since childhood and in life generally, he has been a good dad supporting my football journey and I love him,” a jovial Okwaro told PeopleSport.

Okwaro dethroned Vihiga Queens’ Tumaini Waliaula for the encouraging individual achievement in a season termed by many coaches and players as ‘tough’.

Last year, Waliaulia scored 16 goals to land the prestigious accolade but this term the ‘lucky bird’ smiled at her for the double fortunes of a league title and the golden boot.

She beat Kibera Soccer Women striker Faith Mboya who notably scored 15 goals after joining the mid-season fromSunderland FC which features in the FKF Women National Super League.

Bungoma Queen’s Catherine Khaemba had earlier in the season shown signs of going for the gong but in the end she only managed to sum up the season with 13 goals. Ulinzi Starlets top forward Joy Kinglady Oriyo is ranked fourth on the list after scoring 12 goals.

“The competition has been tough this season. There was no push over this season compared to last season and therefore we needed to work harder for us to be here. I feel so good to win this championship because it is my second title, I know how difficult it is to maintain the tempo and defend the trophy. I enjoyed playing at Afraha Stadium especially because it’s my home town and also the support was amazing,” Okwaro added.

The former Thika Queens and Wiyeta Girls forward says that shedoes not know what the future holds for her and promised to continue doing duty for the incredible law enforcers, calming nerves over possible movement in the next window.

The big task ahead of them now is to make amends at the regional CECAFA Championships following their final stumble against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia last year.

They want to leave an indelible mark in the CECAFAcompetition so as to book their ticket to the lucrative CAF Women’s ChampionsLeague.

“There is no time for rest, we are going harder in the next stepbecause CAF Champions League is not a mean tournament. we have to put in thework for us to succeed there. We want to leave a mark by clinching the CECAFAtitle since the last time we lost in the final.”

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the competition could be stagedin Kenya in September. Vihiga Queens remains Kenya’s oly side to have triumphedin the tourney after their remarkable show on home soil in 2021.
