Bitok congratulates Bankers after Kenya Cup triumph
Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Deputy President Paul Bitok has congratulated his former team, Kenya Commercial Bank, after they emerged the winners of the inaugural Kenya Cup on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Nairobi.
Japheth Munala’s team mounted a spirited display to silence archrivals Kenya Pipeline in an enthralling final staged at the Kasarani Indoor Arena via a commanding 3-0 set to clinch the first edition of the competition organised by the Kenya Volleyball Federation.
The feat prompted the praise of the seasoned coach, who joined the sports administration in 2024, when he was elected KVF Deputy President last year.
“KCB are the champions. Congratulations to the Kenya Commercial Bank Women’s Volleyball Team for being crowned the 2025 Kenya Cup Champions.
The Lionesses roared to glory with a commanding 3–0 victory over Kenya Pipeline at the Kasarani Indoor Arena,” the former Rwanda National Team coach’s message read.
Bankers dominate
During the showdown at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, KCB looked sharper, hungrier, and more cohesive. Their aggressive serves, quick transitions, and impenetrable blocks threw Pipeline off rhythm early, allowing the Bankers to take charge of all three sets with authority.

The win was sealed in straight sets, sending their fans into jubilation and avenging their earlier loss in style.
How they won
Both teams had advanced to the final after impressive performances in Saturday’s semi-finals. Pipeline, true to form, cruised past the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a repeat of the league final.
KCB, on the other hand, had to fight their way through a tough bracket to earn their shot at Pipeline.
The final attracted a passionate crowd at Kasarani, creating a charged atmosphere fit for a grudge match. While Pipeline had the pedigree, KCB’s hunger and tactical superiority proved decisive.
They maintained pressure throughout, denying Pipeline any real chance of recovery.
By clinching the Women’s Kenya Cup title, KCB not only made history as the first winners of the competition but also reaffirmed their position as a force in Kenyan women’s volleyball.
Revenge served
The win will boost their morale heading into the next league season.
The victory also served a perfect redemption for Munal and her charges who just two months ago fell to a bitter defeat to Pipeline in the semi-finals of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League play-offs held in Mombasa.
Geoffrey Omondi’s, Pipeline team, went on to win the league.
