AFC Leopards’ woes continue with loss to Bandari as Bidco, Murang’a Seal share spoils

By , October 22, 2023

AFC Leopards’ woes in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League continued after falling 1-0 to Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

The loss comes despite the appointment of coach Tomas Trucha to replace Tom Juma, who witnessed a poor season start and left the 12-time Premier League champions in the relegation zone.

Dominant Bandari

Meanwhile, as usual, Abdallah Hassan was a thorn in the Leopards’ flesh as he caused numerous problems on the left wing, and his movements almost brought a goal in the seventh minute.

Edward Satulo also proved a clever player for AFC Leopards to mark as he dominated the midfield battle for the better part of the first half.

After successfully keeping Bandari at bay in the first half, Ingwe finally conceded in the 56th minute when Derrick Nsibambi scored.

After going down, AFC Leopards functioned like a disjointed unit and were lucky not to concede more, with Bandari failing to utilize their chances.

Bidco, Murang’a Seal draw

Meanwhile, Bidco United and Murang’a Seal shared points after a goalless draw at Kasarani Annex.

The draw denied the league debutants what would have been their third straight win, while Bidco were hunting for their first win in three games.

Bidco had the first chance, but Sharif Musa failed to find the back of the net before Martin Mbugua saw his effort stopped by Seal’s goalkeeper, Boniface Munyasa.

John Kiplang’at had an opportunity to break the deadlock in favour of Seal, but John Otieno in Bidco’s goal was alert to thwart the danger.

Another chance for Bidco fell at the hands of Musa after being picked out by Samuel Ndung’u, only for him to fire wide.

Daniel Omondi came close to breaking the deadlock in the 86th minute, but Munyasa, who had been superb all throughout the encounter, managed to keep the ball away from finding the back of the net.
