Kenya’s teenage footballer Aldrine Kibet made his first official start for RC Celta Vigo’s Under-19 side on Sunday, October 5, 2025, as the team claimed a 2-0 victory over Sporting Gijón.

RC Celta confirmed Kibet’s inclusion in the starting lineup through a post on their official page.

“You’ve been asking… ‘Where is Kibet?!’ Well… he’s here. Our starboy 🇰🇪 Aldrine Kibet makes his first official start with Celta U-19 today vs Sporting Gijón 💥 Twende kazi, kijana!” the club wrote.

This match marks another milestone for the 18-year-old since joining the Spanish La Liga club in July 2025. Kibet had earlier made his first appearance for the side in a friendly against SC Braga in Portugal on August 2, 2025.

His debut came just two weeks after the club officially unveiled him as a Celta player on a four-year deal running until 2029.

From Kitale to Celta

Celta Vigo initially recruited Kibet as part of their youth setup, with plans for him to grow within the ranks. He currently features for the club’s U-19 team, which plays in Spain’s top youth league, and will aim to work his way up to Celta Fortuna, the reserve side that competes in the third tier of Spanish football.

Kibet’s football journey began in Kitale, where he starred for St. Anthony’s Boys High School. In 2023, he led the team to victory at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) championships, finishing as top scorer and Most Valuable Player with 25 goals and 27 assists.

His outstanding performances earned him a place at Nastic Sports Academy in Spain under the Talanta Hela programme, an initiative by the Kenyan government to help local sports talents secure international exposure.

Celta have described Kibet as a creative winger with strong pace, excellent control, and confidence in one-on-one situations. His technical ability and work rate have already drawn attention from the club’s youth coaches.
