An inaugural Inter-States meeting for the joint East Africa Pamoja Africa Cup of Nations 2027 currently meeting at the Swahili Beach Hotel in Diani, yesterday unveiled a road map to help guide the three countries prepare for the continental showpiece.

The road map which will be guided by strict Confederation of African Football (CAF) timelines for the event, proposed 10 working groups to be spear headed by the respective governments and federations apiece.

The meeting which brought together government sports officials and federation officials from all the East African countries, also called for the countries to allow free visa to all African countries towards the event which will see the region host a total of 52 matches in one month, for the first time in history.

“We have already set the ball rolling and this momentum will go to the end and ensure that we execute a memorable event in the region. Now we have a road map and I can assure you the event will be a success, the government will put all the resources necessary to make it happen,” Sports Principal Secretary Peter Tum said.

He added: “I want to announce here that the funding for the Talanta Stadium has been approved and we are now good to go. About some of the extracts of this meeting is that we have agreed on a number of things and we will have our first quarter joint meeting in Uganda, followed by Tanzania then back again in Kenya.”

Some of the key proposed working groups in the road map include safety, security and health, football infrastructure, communication, media and marketing, tourism, transport infrastructure, regional cooperation, hospitality, logistics and protocol and fan engagement.
