AFC Leopards confirm new backroom staff member ahead of league opener
By Luke Oluoch, September 15, 2025AFC Leopards have made an additional member to the team’s back-room staff a week before the league opener on Saturday, September 30, 2025.
According to an update from the club on Monday, September 15, 2025, Ingwe has enlisted the services of Steve Mbogo as the new goalkeepers coach.
“Steve Mbogo is the new AFC Leopards goalkeeper trainer. The former Dimba Patriots goalkeeper trainer with over 6 years of experience joins us to beef up our goalkeeping department. He has previously handled Mathare United, FC Talanta and Wazito FC,” a statement from the club stated.

Mbogo, who boasts experience in the role spanning over six years, comes in after a stint with the lower-tier side, Dimba Patriots.
He also had previous coaching stints at Wazito FC, FC Talanta and Mathare United.
The trainer will be tasked with nurturing the department that has James Ssetuba and who joined the club at the start of the season.
New season
The foregoing comes as Leopards seek to kick off their league campaign this Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Ingwe has been on a signing spree, roping in several new stars as it seeks fresh tidings in the top league after a finish under coach Fred Ambani.

Among the club’s latest signings are former Sharks man and Police FC midfielder Tyson Otieno and left central defender Rami Lasso Coulibaly from Morocco’s Chabab Alam Tanger.
New arrivals
Others are Ugandan Samuel Ssenyonjo, striker Elias Mugane, and Deng Kang, who has been promoted from the juniors team, AFC Leopards Cubs.
Defender Brian Ojok and striker Elias Mugane also signed contracts with the club ahead of the new season. The former, a marauding fullback, completed a permanent transfer to FKF Premier League giants AFC Leopards SC on Friday, September 5, 2025.
On the outbound transfers, Leopards parted ways with keeper Levis Opiyo and Ovella Ochieng, who confirmed they opted for novel challenges away from the club.
The two joined Lewis Bandi, who ditched Ingwe for a stint with arch rivals Gor Mahia FC during the CHAN competitions in Nairobi.
In a positive development, the attacking pair of Kayci Odhiambo and experienced striker Victor Omune committed to the club by agreeing to new contracts.
The Fred Ambani coached team will get their season underway against Sofapaka FC.
The clash will be staged at the Nyayo National Stadium from 4:00 pm.
