Injury setback
Under different coaches, the 30-year-old has been a key figure for Ingwe, although at the beginning of the current season, he was injured and sidelined for some time.
The Harambee Star was not available for the former Premier League giants from August to mid-September before he recovered and reclaimed his position in the starting XIs.
When he got injured, he wrote an emotional message to the Ingwe’s fanatics, promising to come back stronger.
“Unfortunately, I will miss the start of the season with a knee injury, and I will be out for close to four months, as the doctors have said.
“But I believe I will be back better and stronger. Thanks a lot for the love,” Omune wrote on his social media pages.
While he was injured, he missed three matches as Ingwe struggled at the beginning of the current campaign.
He was a key figure during the 2022/23 season, as Ingwe finished in the seventh position, even though there was uncertainty concerning the future of their former coach, Patrick Aussems.
One of his standout days in the previous term was when he found the back of the net four times against FC Talanta in a match they won by a 6-0 margin.
He has also continued to be a crucial cog in the current set-up under Tomas Trucha.
His recent goal for AFC Leopards was against Murang’a Seal last weekend, which they won by a solitary goal. He and Vincent Mahiga were thereby named in the FKF Premier League team of the week.
