A look at top teams in 2022 World Cup
The FIFA World Cup is quite possibly the most prestigious football competition. It is held every four years and is contested by the men’s national teams of the members of the International Football League.
The World Cup has been held since 1930 when it had its inaugural tournament, and the latest edition is scheduled to be played in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
The last tournament was held in 2018 in Russia, where the winner was the French national men’s team.
The FIFA World Cup is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, drawing in billions of people annually. This naturally means that the competition draws in a huge crowd of bettors. In fact, the World Cup is one of the most popular betting events in the world of sports, with millions of dollars being wagered, and the same is expected to be true for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The current procedure for teams competing in the Cup involves a phase of qualification, taking place over the three years leading up to the actual competition.
In this article, we will take a look at some of the outstanding teams that have qualified for the 2022 Cup.
Qatar
What earns the Qatar team a spot here is that it is their debut in the FIFA World Cup. As the competition will be hosted by Qatar, their national team is automatically qualified to compete. Qatar is the first Arabian country to have ever hosted the FIFA World Cup.
The Qatar national football team is rather successful, having competed in a dozen Asian Cup, and three Arab Cup tournaments. In 2019, Qatar won the Asian Cup title, and they have also reached finals of the Arab Cup.
The team has won a number of major, and a few minor awards, and are considered quite successful in the east.
France
The French team are the current champions, having won the 2018 World Cup. This was not the only time that the French have won a World Cup, as they also were champions in 1998 when they defeated Brazil for the title.
According to the official FIFA World rankings, the team are ranked as having the third-best national football team in the world, and the second-best in Europe (behind Belgium and Brazil).
Their ranking is well earned, as the French have won a number of titles and awards, including 2 UEFA European Championships, two FIFA Confederation Cups, and one UEFA Nations League.
Belgium
Currently ranked as the top team in the world by the International Football Association, the Belgium team is one of the most accomplished national football teams of all time. They’ve reached the final stage of over a dozen World Cups, though have not won any, making them the first national team to top the rankings, without having ever won a World Cup title.
They have also reached the end stage of five UEFA European Championships, and have competed in three Olympic tournaments, where they have won two medals, one gold and one bronze. The Belgium Team’s official primary colours are red, earning the team the nickname “Red Devils”.
Brazil
The Brazil national football team is ranked 2nd on the FIFA rankings, and the 1st in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. They are one of the most popular, accomplished, and beloved national football teams in the world, having competed in every single World Cup.
The team is the most successful national team and have held the champion title on five different occasions, most recently in 2002. They have also won two Olympic gold medals, and have been ranked Team of the Year twelve times, an uncontested record.
England
The last team we will take a look at in this article will be the England national football team. The English are ranked fourth in the world, and third in Europe, and compete in all three major international competitions. The team have played in 15 out of the 21 World Cups.
England’s team is the only one of the top five ranked FIFA teams to have never competed in the Olympic Games, and the reason for that is that England is considered a constituent of the United Kingdom, and thus does not qualify to be a member of the International Olympic Committee.
