Edwin Sifuna to represent ODM at International Leaders Forum in Chicago

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will be representing the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party at this years International Leaders Forum (ILF) in Chicago, Illinois, in United States of America (USA).

Taking to his official X account on Monday, August 12, 2024, Sifuna said that he has been invited to the event by National Democratic Institute (NDI).

The event will be happening on the sidelines of the Democratic Convention in Chicago from August 19, 2024, to August 22, 2024.

“Honored to be invited by National Democratic Institute to the 2024 International Leaders Forum happening on the sidelines of the Democratic Convention in Chicago from the 19th of August. I will be representing my party, ODM,” Sifuna stated.

According to the National Democratic Institute website, this will the the 11th ILF to be hosted.

Purpose of International Leaders Forum

The institute has been convening senior politicians and policy-makers from around the world to observe facet of the American democratic process, every four years since 1984.

The institute says the ILF attendees represent a broad spectrum of political thought, hailing from democracies, established and burgeoning, from all corners of the globe.

Some of the event’s attendees include Heads of States, cabinet ministers, ambassadors, Members of Parliament and political party officials.

ILF is a unique gathering of thought leaders and influencers shaping democratic institutions, values, and practice,” a statement on the NDI official website reads.

The International Leaders Forum is also used as an opportunity for leaders across diverse ideologies and geographies to build relationships based on their shared experiences.

The attendees also use the opportunity to identify common interests as they address pressing challenges to democratic institutions, values and norms.

The participants of this year’s event will be expected to observe the Convention, participate in panels and other learning opportunities, and build relationships as they address pressing challenges to democracy and share ideas.
