Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, chaired a multi-agency meeting at his official resident in Karen, Nairobi, aimed at developing a framework of linking Jua Kali sector to job opportunities.
Gachagua, through his official X account, said the government, through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy that is already in place, is taking a revolutionary approach to dignifying the Jua Kali workforce.
This, Gachagua says, will help transform informal skills and expertise into formal employment, and provide linkages to opportunities locally and internationally.
“The Jua Kali Sector is a source of livelihood for millions of our people; the Sector is rich in skills and expertise driving our economy. With the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy in place, we are taking a revolutionary approach to dignifying the Jua Kali workforce, as we transform informal skills and expertise into formal employment and providing linkages to opportunities locally and internationally,” Gachagua’s statement reads in part.
