Women legislators demand Gedi arrest over attack
Politicians allied to the Inua Mama Jenga Taifa lobby group yesterday called for the arrest and prosecution of Wajir County Women Rep Fatuma Gedi for allegedly hiring goons to attack them.
The lobby group now wants Gedi to be interrogated as all individuals who have so far recorded statements with DCI have had phone conversations with her or are persons known to her.
The over 20 MPs told security agencies to ensure all those involved in the matter are arrested and prosecuted for planning, financing and transporting the attackers.
Led by Woman Reps Purity Ngirichi (Kirinyaga), Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia) and Jane Kihara (MP Naivasha Town), the MPs also called for the arrest and prosecution of three other suspects Collins Opondo, Martin Kanga,Tyson Juma and the driver and coordinator of the Wajir County National Government Affirmative Action Fund.
“We demand that Fatuma Gedi be interrogated and must record a statement,” said Ngirichi.
Gedi, however, brushed off the allegations, saying she had nothing to do with any of violence in any part of the country.
