Woman dies, two injured in Nyahururu home brawl

A woman was killed in a domestic fight that also left two other people including a 10-year-old boy hospitalized in Nyahururu town, Laikipia county.

Police said the woman named as Beatrice Nyandigo, aged 52 years, died from stab wounds believed to have been inflicted by her 45-year boyfriend whom she lived with in the KCC quarters.

The 2am fight left the deceased’s 10-year-old grandson, Bradon Osomo, with multiple stab wounds and was admitted to the Nyahururu County hospital in serious condition, according to police.

Knife assailant

The boy could have been trying to protect his grandmother from the knife wielding assailant named as John Mule Mungai.

Police said the boy suffered stab injuries on the face, chest, arms, legs and abdomen.

“The attacker tried to run away from the scene but was chased by bodaboda motorcycle riders forcing him to run into (Nyahururu) police station for safety,” said the police report.

 “At the police station, the suspect collapsed and police noticed he had injuries on his chest,” the report said, adding that the suspect was taken to the County hospital where he was still undergoing treatment yesterday under police guard.

Police recovered a kitchen knife that is believed to be the murder weapon. The body of the woman was taken to the Nyahururu County hospital mortuary.
