Political strategist and lawyer Willis Otieno has accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of running the country into financial paralysis, saying its failures are directly punishing ordinary Kenyans.

In a strongly worded statement on his X account posted on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Otieno warned that key pillars of the country are already crumbling.

“Health. Education. Counties. All collapsing,” he wrote, painting a grim picture of a nation where essential services are no longer functioning as they should.

According to Otieno, the crisis has reached the point where even private hospitals are unable to operate normally.

“Private hospitals are turning patients away,” he said, highlighting the strain on healthcare and the dangers it poses to citizens who can no longer access critical treatment.

Education has also been caught in the storm. Universities, Otieno noted, are at a standstill. “Universities are paralysed,” he said, pointing to the striking lecturers and staff who have gone for months without pay, leaving students stranded and academic progress interrupted.

Counties, too, are struggling to keep their doors open. Otieno said devolved units have been unable to deliver basic services because workers have not been paid. “County workers unpaid for months,” he lamented, warning that this neglect has left local services in limbo and citizens at the mercy of a failing state.

The vocal lawyer also accused Ruto of turning State House into a hub of corruption and backroom deals.

For Otieno, this is not just poor governance but deliberate failure. “This is a deliberate misrule,” he asserted, insisting that the collapse is not accidental but the result of misplaced priorities and poor financial management.

He went further to accuse the government of being broke but unwilling to own up to the crisis. “The government is broke. But instead of admitting failure, it’s punishing Kenyans,” he charged, arguing that citizens are paying the price for leadership that refuses to take responsibility.

Otieno said the most painful part of the crisis is the double standard: while Kenyans are denied healthcare, salaries, and education, the government is still committing huge sums of money every month to settle debts. “Still paying billions every month to service odious debt,” he said, calling it an injustice to struggling citizens.

His remarks come at a time when public frustration is mounting over delayed salaries, collapsing services, and the soaring cost of living. For Otieno, the government’s current path reflects betrayal of the people and a dangerous disregard for the country’s future.
